A LOT happened within chapter seven; however, I feel there was a lot that was left unsaid. If the characters could tell us their true feelings what would they say right now? Pick a character and "blabberize" it. Tell me something that they are secretly thinking but didn't dare say it out loud. Create an account at www.blabberize.com and then create a short clip using character images from the movie (Francis Ford Coppola or Baz Luhrmann version). Embed your blabberize clip within your post and then below the clip explain yourself. Chapter seven unravels all of the good gossip of this book. Gatsby reveals his love for Daisy to Tom and how he plans on taking her from him. Daisy first tells Tom that she’s leaving him. Tom goes on an on about family life falling apart - even though he is cheating too. Jordan and Nick are simply sitting in this hot hotel room and listening to them fight about the entire thing. Jordan isn’t in any relationship, so I’m sure this whole dynamic of Tom, Myrtle, Daisy, and Gatsby simply perplexes her.
My poem is one that I could imagine Daisy Buchanan writing. It covers both the theme of dissatisfaction and isolation. I believe that Daisy felt very alone throughout this novel. Her image of beauty, purity, innocence, happiness, and desire for wealth was all a facade for the desperate life that she actually led. She was a very sad woman and her life was quite tragic.
Directions: In this blog post you need to convince your readers
that there is one perfect song out there that describes the characters,
setting, and/or situations present within the chapter. Don't pick a song based
purely on the sound - take a closer look at the lyrics. Does it describe what
is occurring within chapter five in any way? The entire song does not need to
befit the chapter but you must find at least four lines in the song that work
for the chapter.

Mrs. Carn’s Example
The Adele song, "When We Were Young"
epitomizes Jay Gatsby and his love for Daisy Buchanan. There were multiple
lines that I felt fit chapter five extremely well. Jay was extremely nervous
about meeting back up with Daisy. In the song one line states, "I was so
scared to face my fears" and I think Jay was scared - which is why he
pulled together this elaborate scheme, involving Jordan and Nick, for his first
meeting with Daisy. When they finally reconnected it seemed like it had been
forever. At one point Adele sings, "You look like a movie/you sound like a
song/my God this reminds me of when we were young" and even after five
years of being separated Daisy and Jay did in fact have that re-connection. Jay
loved everything about Daisy. "Everybody loves the things you do form the
way you talk to the way you move" and every bit of that line applies to
Daisy Buchanan and how people feel about her (especially the talking part). At
the end of the chapter it is almost bittersweet - Jay's dream has come true,
but is it going to last? Jay was truly "hoping you're [Daisy] someone I
used to know" and that they haven't drifted apart in the years they've
been apart.
